Commonwealth’s Attorney

Theo Stamos was elected Commonwealth’s Attorney in November 2011 and took office January 2012. Ms. Stamos has been a prosecutor in the Commonwealth’s Attorney Office for Arlington County and the City of Falls Church for more than two decades, and has served as Chief Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney since 2002.

Ms. Stamos first joined the office in 1987 and was promoted to Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney in 1998 and then to Chief Deputy in 2002.

The Commonwealth’s Attorney oversees a 34 member office that is responsible for prosecuting felonies, misdemeanors, and traffic cases.  The office is also responsible for prosecuting felonies committed in the City of Falls Church and all felonies and misdemeanors committed at National Airport.

The Commonwealth’s Attorney office is located on the 5th floor of the Arlington County Courthouse, 1425 N. Courthouse Road.  The office is open from 8am-5pm Monday through Friday, and the general number is 703-228-4410.  Please note that cellphones are not allowed in this building.
