County Sheriff Beth Arthur assumed office in 2000. As County Sheriff, oversees approximately 270 sworn and civilian personnel and manages a budget of $34 million dollars. The Arlington County Sheriff’s Office manages and operates the County Detention Facility, which has an average daily population of 625 inmates.
The Sheriff’s Office also provides Courthouse and Courtroom Security and supports the Courts by serving civil and criminal warrants and court orders. It transports adult and juvenile prisoners, and individuals appearing at mental commitment hearings, and provides other administrative support for the Judicial Services and Corrections Divisions.
The County Sheriff’s office is located at 1425 North Courthouse Road, Suite 9100, and the County Detention Facility is across the plaza at 1435 North Courthouse Road. Please note that NO CELLPHONES or iPads are allowed in either building; coin-operated lockers for cellphones are located on the ground floor of the County Detention Facility.
