The County Treasurer’s responsibilities are defined in the Constitution of Virginia–to receive, safeguard and disburse County Funds. First elected in 1983, County Treasurer Frank O’Leary is now in his 7th term of office. During his tenure, he has lowered the tax delinquency rate from a high of 9% in 1983 to just over 1/2 of 1%–the lowest delinquency rate in Virginia.
The County Treasurer’s office has established a number of initiatives to make payments as easy and convenient as possible, and to avoid parking tickets and late payment fees. These include:
- CAPP –the “Customer Assessment & Payment Portal” (Registration Required). Taxpayers can make payments on-line and also receive notifications by email whenever a County bill–including parking tickets–is issued.
- iPark–an in-vehicle metering device that eliminates the need to feed coins into parking meters
- Neighborhood Payment Program–for bill payment locations throughout Arlington County.
The Treasurer’s office is located at 2100 Clarendon Blvd, Suite 201. The office is open from 8-5 Monday through Friday, and the main phone number is 703-228-4000.
